Since 1982 the sounds of modern contempory Jazz music has never been the same. For this was when the partnership of Dave Grusin and Larry Rosen was born in the form of GRP Records. Now established in the US, if not the world, as the top/leading label for Modern Comtempory Jazz.
GRP originally started life back in 1976 as Grusin/Rosen Productions. Dave and Larry soon established themselves in the production world and working initially with such artists as Earl Klugh and Patti Austin. It was to be a contract with Arista Records that then gave the backing to from GRP Records.
GRP Records have always been know for their 'Digitally Recorded' albums ( of which
it was Dave's album "Mountain Dance" that was the first ) along with the
'Direct Metal Mastering' of their Vinyl.
